An effective sustainability strategy and execution plan for a global tech and business solutions provider
Situation
With increasing pressure on the data centre industry being a major source of global emissions, the client recognised that it was behind its peers and wanted to become a leader in data cantre sustainability efforts.

The client started with no dedicated sustainability team but knowing there was clear opportunity for improving their sustainability efforts. They needed set up a sustainability programme that was operational focused and would build capability so successful implementation would require integration with and drive from existing teams and initiatives.

WHAT WE DID
Approach
Net Zero Strategy
To set the foundation of their sustainability approach, we developed a fully-fledged net zero strategy that included the transformation roadmap, targets setting, reporting, delivery program and setting up key work streams.

Renewable energy roadmap
We developed regional and global renewable energy roadmaps, a key decarbonisation lever for the client to meet their Net zero and SBTi targets.
SBTi validation and emissions reporting
We performed a full emissions baselining, SBTi application and validation exercise for the client. We then developed a holistic emissions reporting model.

Sustainability workshops
To further support the delivery of their sustainability strategy, workshops were conducted with key global operations teams and regional teams to mobilise the organisation and develop supporting strategies, capabilities and plans.
FINAL RESULT
Impact
With Ampersand’s support, the client had a solid foundation and clear sustainability strategy to move forward with their intentions to be a leading data centre company in sustainability.
Key strategies were set for their decarbonisation pathway and a renewable energy roadmap to best equip them to meet their GHG emissions reduction and renewable energy targets.
